PRODUCT RECALL NOTICE

20 July 2018

Addendum to Product Recall Notice Letter of 06 July

This notice is further to our Product Recall Notice of 6th July 2018 relating to a voluntary precautionary industry wide recall of frozen vegetable products by one of our suppliers, Greenyard.

For one of the products listed on the original recall notice – F4782 Brakes Sweetcorn 2.5kg - we have been made aware of an additional Lot identification code used on affected product.

This takes the form of a single letter (the letter ‘Y’) which is printed at the end of the Best Before End date and Lot code sequence (see example below) – this information is printed on the Sweetcorn packaging (boxes and bags).

Note: this is in addition to the recall of F4782 with the letter codes ‘Z’ and ‘N’ recalled as part of the previous recall notice.

We are therefore recalling:

F4782 Brakes Sweetcorn 2.5kg - All Best Before End dates up to Jan 2020, with a Lot identification code letter ‘Y’ eg DEC 19 L8163Y

Please note that F4782 Brakes Sweetcorn 2.5kg is produced for us by more than one supplier. No other Lot identification codes and no other Brakes products are affected.

Any remaining stock of the above date code of the product held by customers should be disposed of, and credit claimed via telesales as per the normal process.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.  If you have any queries please speak to our Customer Service team on 0345 606 9090.

THE ISSUE - REASON FOR RECALL:

We have been informed by our supplier of the above products that it is undertaking a voluntary precautionary, industry-wide recall of a range of products produced in one of its Hungarian factories. The issue relates to a potential Listeria microbiological problem if the products are not cooked properly.

The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has recently issued advice to re-iterate the need to follow the cooking instructions on frozen vegetables even when using them in salads, smoothies or dips. All Brakes’ frozen vegetables have the correct cooking guidance and food safety advice on the packaging.

No other Brakes products are affected.

Any remaining stock of the above date code of the product held by customers should be disposed of, and credit claimed via telesales as per the normal process.

We have alternative suppliers and will endeavour to maintain supply wherever possible.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
