Inspiring inclusion
Creating a safe, open and supportive working environment to empower members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Spectrum UK
Spectrum UK is a colleague community group for LGBTQ+ members and allies.
Their goal is to create a safe, open and supportive working environment for all our colleagues who are members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community.
Creating an inclusive environment
The first Spectrum Progress Pride crossing was opened at Enterprise House for the launch of Pride in June 2021.
Since June 2021 we have added a further 7 crossings across our depots. The most recent being our Sysco London depot.
akt – our partner charity
Our Spectrum group have a full month of activities planned for colleagues to celebrate LGBTQ+ members and allies, educate and raise money for akt, our partner charity.
akt supports LGBTQ+ young people aged 16-25 in the uk who are facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment. Coming out, or being outed as LGBTQ+, can lead to young people being made homeless and once homeless, LGBTQ+. young people are more likely to face violence and discrimination.
Did you know?
24% of homeless young people identify as LGBTQ+
77% of the LGBTQ+ young people akt work with believe coming out at home was the main factor in causing their homelessness
This can all take a huge toll on someone’s physical and mental health, so it’s vital that they are supported in an environment that is inclusive and celebrates their identities to improve their life outcomes.
