The Best of British Apples this Autumn

As autumn surrounds the British countryside, there’s no better way to celebrate this glorious season than by indulging in the delights of seasonal British apples. With some of the world’s finest apples being grown in British orchards, we take a look at our NEW British Bi-colour apples, launching in September in two different pack sizes.

These solely British-grown apples are produced at Ditchells Farm in Biddenden, Kent, and come in a wide array of flavours, textures, and colours, making them a delightful addition to both culinary creations and snacking. From the sweet and tangy Cox to the crisp and juicy gala, British-grown apples offer something for every palate. Celebrated for their freshness and quality and often harvested in early autumn, these apples contribute to the seasonal charm of British cuisine.

Varieties Include:

Windsor - known for its sweet, aromatic flavour. Picked throughout September.

Cox - distinctive crispiness and tangy-sweer flavour. Picked September to January.

Gala - bright red and yellow skin with a sweet and snappy taste. Picked September to January.

Braeburn – bold and tangy flavour with a balance of sweetness and acidity. Picked November to March.

Supporting local orchards and choosing British-grown apples is not only a flavourful choice but also an environmentally friendly one, promoting sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint associated with importing fruits from afar. These Bi-colour apples also complement our ‘Best of British’ range and celebrates British Food Fortnight from 16th September – 3rd October which celebrates the diverse and delicious food that Britain produces.

With National Apple Day approaching on October 21st, why not recreate our Spiced Roasted Apples and Blackberries with Clotted Cream from our inspiration hub . This comforting recipe contains all the flavours of autumn and creates a fusion of sweet and creamy goodness. Swap the Granny Smith for Brakes Bi-Colour Apples to keep the ingredients British.
