Sysco GB celebrates International Women’s Day

As a purpose-led organisation, inclusion is a fundamental part of Sysco GB’s operation. We understand that when people can bring their whole selves to work, they feel happier, more engaged and get greater enjoyment from their job.

The theme for International Women’s Day this year is Inspire Inclusion and Sysco GB’s Colleague Resource Group, IMPACT, have a packed programme of activities to do just that.

IMPACT (Influence, Mentor, Potential, Achieve, Collaborate, Transform) was set up in 2019 to support and encourage women within the organisation to feel included, to inspire them to reach their full potential and to raise awareness about the opportunities and barriers faced by women.

There are now more than 350 members of IMPACT, including many male allies who are also championing the causes close to their female colleagues’ hearts.

In his first International Women’s Day as CEO of Sysco GB, Paul Nieduszynski said “I’m incredibly proud to lead a business that every year takes the time out to celebrate International Women’s Day, our female colleagues, friends and family members. International Women’s Day exists as a day to pause and really celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness and drive equality.”

Some of the many inspiring activities held by the IMPACT group are:

• Turning all of Sysco GB’s operating companies websites and social media platforms purple during the month of March to mark the businesses’ support for women, not just on International Women’s Day
• A panel discussion was held with two exciting external speakers both senior colleagues at Coca Cola and Dobbies
• A series of personal messages from women across the organisation giving advice to their younger selves about overcoming barriers they may have set for themselves
• Supporting inclusion within the workplace, by sharing messages of inclusion across internal social networks and across the workplaces, encouraging everyone to truly value differences and ensure that inclusion comes from their hearts
• Providing inspirational stories from some of Sysco GB’s suppliers
