Gary Maclean - Food Ambassador
Gary Maclean is a Glasgow born chef who is best known for winning MasterChef: The Professionals in 2016.
However, the multi-award-winning chef has an impressive resume. Gary has won awards for his culinary skills, teaching, and in 2017 became Scotland's first National Chef. At Brakes Scotland, we are sure his career highlight was becoming our Food Ambassador and Chef Consultant in late 2016.
Before his MasterChef win, Gary was widely regarded as a talented chef, heading up kitchens across Scotland since early 2000. His teaching career began in 2010 when he joined City of Glasgow College as a Chef Lecturer, winning Hospitality Educator of the Year in 2017.
Gary became Scotland's first National Chef in 2017, a role which sees him promote Scottish produce on the world stage and help Scotland become a world-leading Good Food Nation. He demonstrates how the selection, cooking and enjoyment of nutritious food contributes to a balanced and healthy diet, together with our physical, mental and social wellbeing.
A role that aligns perfectly with the ambitions of Brakes Scotland - to encourage the use of healthy, locally produced, environmentally sustainable and affordable food.
