Our halal policy & certifications

For many of your customers, halal isn't a preference — it's a requirement. That's why we hold ourselves to the highest standards of halal compliance, so you can serve your community with complete confidence.

Our halal range – both in-brand products, and products from partners like Ihsaan Halal Beef – have been certified by the Halal Monitoring Board of UK, Halal Food Authority Ltd or one of many other certification bodies, meaning you’ll always find something in our range that meets the standards your customers expect.

What halal certification means

At the heart of our halal range is a rigorous certification process. For a product to carry halal certification, it must meet the following requirements:

  • Meat and poultry products have been processed in accordance with Shari’a Law.

  • Humane slaughtering is enacted under the control of a licensed Muslim, with a swift cut severing the main arteries.

  • Produce that has been humanely slaughtered is compliant with EU and UK law.

Certification is essential to give consumers peace-of-mind that the companies they purchase from follow strict regulations around the processing, storing and transporting of halal food products. When you source from our halal range, you can be confident that every one of these standards has been met.

Our approach to halal compliance

Our commitment to halal compliance goes beyond certification, it shapes how we operate.

Our halal food products are produced in facilities with strict controls in place to prevent cross-contamination. All premises are independently Halal approved.

Please note that the meat and poultry we supply is stunned before slaughter. The stunning is reversible, and therefore does not kill the animals before the slaughter procedure can take place.

In order to ensure the quality and credibility of our wholesale halal food over time, certificates are periodically reviewed. Products may change if the certification changes, so keep an eye on how our products are labelled.

How to verify our products

We value transparency. That’s why we make it easy for you to verify the legitimacy of our wholesale halal food.

For evidence of halal certification for each product, or for support with any unanswered questions, you can contact our Customer Services Team on 03456 069090.

You can also find more information on our Product Assurance and Quality Assurance pages.

Whether you're a long-standing customer or exploring our halal range for the first time, our promise is the same — a range you can stand behind, backed by certifications and a team you can reach when it matters.
