Brakes Scotland delivers a faster, fresher service
Scotland’s larder, right on your doorstep
Following a £15 million warehouse extension backed by Sysco, Brakes Scotland’s Newhouse depot is now 100% locally stocked, holding an extensive range of regional and speciality lines.
This significant investment reinforces Brakes Scotland’s commitment to Scottish provenance, quality and freshness. The business now works with 83 Scottish suppliers, offers more than 500 Scottish products, and stocks over 160 lines available exclusively in Scotland.
From independent brunch cafés and premium dining venues to boutique hotels, hospitals and care homes, Brakes Scotland works in partnership with businesses of all sizes, delivering tailored solutions to meet their needs.

Every order is overseen by Brakes Scotland’s Quality Assurance team, which follows a strict audit process to ensure consistently high standards from depot to delivery. This is underpinned by a fully equipped, state-of-the-art Quality Assurance kitchen.
Expertise that adds value
The number of Customer Development events and depot visits have been increased, giving customers the opportunity to tour the Newhouse site, explore the new extension and experience the Quality Assurance kitchen first-hand.
Development Chef Michael Croy delivers on-site inspiration through menu development and tastings, while Fresh Produce and Meat Specialists share practical insight across all customer sectors. This is complemented by tailored menu guidance, nutrition advice, training, and sector-focused online resources.
A commitment to responsible growth
The Newhouse extension plays a key role in Brakes Scotland’s sustainability ambitions by reducing emissions and road miles, increasing the use of clean energy and creating local jobs. The business continues to promote internal progression while also recruiting locally to strengthen the community.
Solar panels now generate 12% of the site’s electricity, while suppliers delivering directly into the depot help cut transport miles and carbon emissions. Food surplus is redistributed to local food banks, including FareShare, and charities such as Meals & More, ensuring the site operates with zero waste to landfill.
Looking ahead, the Newhouse depot extension is future-proofing Brakes Scotland’s operations for years to come, creating the capacity, resilience and infrastructure needed to continue serving customers and communities across Scotland as the business grows.
